FAQ

What is a clinical psychologist?

A clinical psychologist holds a doctoral degree, completes supervised clinical training, and is registered with the College of Psychologists of Ontario, with the authority to diagnose psychological conditions. It also matters practically: most extended health plans include specific coverage for psychological services, and psychologist fees qualify as medical expenses for tax purposes.

How much does therapy cost, and will my insurance cover it?

Sessions are $240 for 50 minutes. Most extended health plans cover registered psychologists — check your plan’s “Psychological Services” coverage. See the Fees & Insurance page for details.

Do you offer virtual sessions?

Yes — in person at St. Clair West in Toronto, or by secure video anywhere in Ontario. Many clients alternate between the two.

What happens in the free consultation?

Twenty minutes, by phone or video. You tell me what’s bringing you; I tell you honestly whether I’m the right fit and how I’d approach it. If I’m not the right person, I’ll say so and point you somewhere better.

How long does therapy take?

It depends on what we’re working on — some concerns respond in a handful of sessions; deeper patterns take longer. What I can promise is that we’ll review progress openly, and I won’t keep you in therapy without a reason you understand and agree with.

Is what I tell you confidential?

Yes, with narrow legal exceptions (risk of serious harm to yourself or others, a child in need of protection, or a court order) — which I explain fully in our first session. Nothing goes to an employer, a service, or anyone else without your written consent. For first responders: your service does not know you are here.
