My approach
to therapy…

Why do people look for therapy:

They look for therapy because they feel overwhelmed, stuck, and frustrated or they have reached a pivotal moment in their lives where they are at a crossroad and need clarity on the way forward.

What is the aim of therapy?

To offer people a non-judgmental objective space to reflect on their lives… How they show up in the world and why they show up that way. My aim is to work with them to reflect on their current and past experiences and how these experiences inform their current behavior and life experiences.

I do not solve problems; I empower people with insight and tools to solve their own problems giving them a greater understanding of their internal processes and how these processes can be utilized to achieve goals, reconnect with loved ones, and create movement in their lives.  These include cognitive emotional and behavioral process.

The world can be cruel to us, and we create defenses along the way to protect ourselves from hurt and vulnerability, ultimately losing sight of who we are, shutting down and disconnecting from those we care for and those that care most for us. The result is that we feel lonely and isolated, unable to effectively connect because fundamentally we are unable to risk being vulnerable.

Often, seeking therapy means that those very defenses that once protected you in the past no longer serve you, and therapy gives you the space to understand and process that, with the realization that people are dynamic, they experience growth both painful and pleasurable and it’s likely you are not the same person you were many years ago. Therapy allows you to see and feel that.

Finally, having worked with many professionals, including founders, I have come to realize that our work, our jobs, our profession, all forms a significant part of our self-identity, how we see ourselves, from where we derive meaning and a sense of purpose.  Who do we want to be in the world, what do we want to achieve, and can we provide for and take care of our loved ones.

Because of this, our professional self and our personal self are often intertwined. As much as there is a perceived work-home divide, we are human, and it can be difficult to hide our humanity in the workplace. Intense and prolonged work stress is pervasive, it often affects our home and personal relationships. In today’s environment personal and professional demands hold great importance and compete for attention.

My passion as a therapist is to work with clients in helping them navigate their personal and professional lives. Thriving personally while developing a presence at work, becoming an authentic leader, cultivating positive work relationships, and building confidence all while overcoming imposter syndrome to establish a successful career.

…it’s a lot to manage and take in, but with agency, insight, support, as well as a deep understanding of and connection to yourself and those around you…life and be liberating, meaningful and fulfilling.

I look forward to getting to meet you, getting to know you, and connecting with you as you take this next step in your journey.

“When we stop distancing ourselves from the pain in the world, our own or others, we create the possibility of a new experience, one that often surprises because of how much joy, connection, or relief it yields.”
